Evelyn Cameron "Frontier Photographer"

When I was in Montana I discovered Evelyn Cameron, a frontier photographer 1894-1928.
Cameron, nee Flower, was one tough and talented lady. She moved to Montana with her husband Ewen, going there initially in 1889, on a hunting trip for their honeymoon. They left their life of upperclass English society, established a ranch in eastern Montana early in the development of that part of the west. A need for additional income and a love of photography lead Evelyn to produce a large number of high quality photographs. Those photographs represent a historical archive of enormous value. The photos show the people of the time, how they made a living, the tools they used, vast landscapes, range horses, cattle roundups, farmers' fields, and the wildlife of the high plains.

At the time, the Kodak camera was the camera of choice for most American photographers, however Cameron did much of her work with a 5x7 Graflex.

I read your article in "Home Companion" and just happened to notice you're located in Nashville. And then I found out your kids are at PPE where my son went to school a year ago. I am trying to launch a web site about Brazilian fashion and am really having a hard time trying to come up with a sensible/creative idea. In the meantime, My day job is as a freelance graphic designer. I would love to talk to you some time to learn more about your business. I get a lot of inspiration and information from learning from others. Thanks. Lisa
